For our Winter Outing, Girls Outdoors enjoyed hiking in the Watchung Reservation, drinking hot chocolate, and exploring the Watchung Trailside Nature Center. Along the way, we played a nature scavenger hunt where we searched for a heart-shaped rock, a tree we couldn't wrap our arms around, flowing water, evidence of animals, and a wildlife sighting. The climax of our hike was a scenic gorge, next to which we walked a steep and narrow trail! Ms. Chaffee-Cohen helped us navigate as we weaved between trails, and Dr. Porterfield shared her positive spirit. Overall, the outing was relaxing and fun, and not at all cold since we wore the right gear!
