Spring Outing

Our spring outing started with a bus ride to the Mohican Outdoor Center. When we got there, we settled in a nice meadow with a picnic table. There, we held the Girls Outdoors Olympics. Each team had to pack a backpack correctly, and then every member ran with the pack on her back in an epic relay race. Afterwards, we faced the challenge of making a warm lunch in the wilderness. To do so, we split into teams (again), each with a specific task. One team cooked vegetables, another cooked rice and beans, and the last made guacamole and shredded the cheese. Madame MacCornack and Ms. Chaffee-Cohen judged us based on cleanliness, teamwork, presentation, and flavor. We ended up with delicious burritos and smiles on our faces. The final part of our competition was a matching game with nature; each girl was given about 5 paint chips and had to pair them all with a color they found outside. In the end, we added up the points from the race, lunch, and matching contest to determine the winners. Last but definitely not least, we went on a hike! After walking uphill through the woods, we were rewarded with a beautiful view of the landscape below. Finally, we hiked back down and came back home, happy to have spent the day in nature and in each others' company. Thank you to our chaperones for such a safe, fun day!
